Almost all Alfetta type transaxle Alfas make that noise eventually, and last a few more millenia without drama.

Subject: [alfa] Throwout Bearing

Regarding the clutch bearing noise issue, I have a similar problem with my Milano. At idle, there is a rattle coming from the transaxle. As soon as I press the clutch the rattle goes away. I've had some people tell me it's a nearing and others telling me it's the transmission itself. I'm leaning towards the bearing as the transmission was recently rebuilt with lightened gears by the previous owner. Any thoughts?
