All:

Years ago, Our 164 had this problem, very little damage to headliner;
Italian motor service's utility man, took the console down and spent a number
of hours scraping and cleaning and repairing cracks. It lasted without
recurrence for many years and miles. Headliner was finally replaced two years
ago due to sagging.
