It read 13.5 at the alternator before starting, but only 13.87 when revving the engine.
13.9 volts sounds pretty good to me. That's easily a high enough voltage to charge the battery. A bigger question is what happens when you turn on the headlights and high beams. Does it hold voltage? If it does, I'd say you're in business.
