If you follow the installation instructions the trigger mechanism should be
very close to correctly located and would just need some fine tuning (also
explained in the instructions) to be correctly located. There should be no
need to do a thing with the rotor or cap.
If you do not have the correct instructions, let me know off list and I can
scan mine and e-mail a copy to you.

Subject: [alfa] Rotor Phasing
Gentle Alfisti,
Has anyone ever looked at rotor phasing on a Spica-era 2 liter? I have
replaced the points with a Crane XR700 optical system. Do you really have to
destroy a distributor cap to do this? What is your technique? Much Obliged,
