A couple of things occur to me, neither of which may work: As a repair,
you might try wrapping the cracked part with the self-adhesive butyl
rubber sheet which is used in roof repairs. As a replacement, you might
try a two inch neoprene flexible coupling from the plumbing supply
store. It has enough give to stretch to 2 1/4 inches and will compress
with a ring clamp to 1 15/16. And it is not affected by gasoline. (I
forget whether butyl rubber is eaten by gasoline.)
