Fellow digestives, Will Owen asks, in reply to Max, how hard is it to fit a Q2 diff?
I have a 156 based Alfa GT with the 6 speed (2004 model), and a mate and I fitted one using a hoist in about 5 hours. That included significant disassembly of the subframe etc. If the engine is out, it is easy. Make sure you have the new bearings and seals, and watch where the shim is located, as it tends to fall out while you are disassembling. The rest of the job is to transfer the crown wheel to the new diff and torque it up, and push the old bearings off, and new ones on (you'll need a big vice or a local shop). There are a few guides on the web. Definitely a job worth doing. Torque steer is gone, car flies around race tracks, even if it is FWD. :-) Cheers, david ----- Afla GT V6, 6 speed Alfa 156 - TS Alfa 75 - TS - track car -- to be removed from alfa, see http://www.digest.net/bin/digest-subs.cgi or email "unsubscribe alfa" to [email protected]
