John, If you can't find a ZF box, Jim Steck (http://www.autocomponenti.com/) might be able to help you repair your old unit. He rebuilds Burman boxes for Alfa racers which includes welding a reinforcement plate to the box to prevent flexing. I'm sure that he is already familiar with the failure mode of your unit.
