I, too, need to rebush a 105 suspension. However, I have only one immediate
need. My 1975 Spider is exhibiting a throbbing on take off that seems to be
coming from the rear of the trans (though the trans itself is not obviously
moving) or the front of the differential. Which mount/bushing most likely
needs done to remedy this?

Thanks in advance,
Ben

Subject: [alfa] ALFA DIGEST - GTV trunnion bush

Hello from NZ again,

This time I'm doing the rear suspension re-bush project on the 1750 GTV.
Have got everything off the car except the trunnion. I don't plan to remove
the outer trunion attachments from the car body (just fit new end-washers,
using the cut-a-split trick), but I do need to separate the centre mounting
at the diff, to change the bushes there.
Have removed the castle-nut from the diff-stud, but am having trouble
removing the top-hat washer or nut that sits between the castle-nut and the
bush. It's got two spanner-flats on it (not six), but it won't budge even
with a big spanner and a hefty heave.

I gather that this top-hat is a washer rather than a threaded nut, and
should slide off rather than needing to be unscrewed. Am I correct there
please?
And if it is just a sliding washer, it must be well frozen on, so are there
any tricks for getting the little blighter to budge? Heat? Pry-bar? Puller?
Soaking for a week with penetrating oil? Cuss and swear a lot? Split it
apart with a nut-splitter?

Thanks all!
Graham in NZ (GTV, 156, lotsa Alfasud)
