Ed Prytherch suggests: I would add - set the distributor so that one of the lobes is pointing straight at the pickup.
******* I might well be wrong on this but when I was going to great pains to get my car started after first installing the MarelliPlex, I finally concluded that ignition/spark didn't occur until the 'lobe' (I'd call them blades) has just passed the magnetic pick-up. Meaning, nothing is happening with the 'lobe' directly in front of the pick-up. However, I've obviously not done this thousands of times, so - to repeat - I might well be wrong. That said, should I ever need to go through the process again, I'll start with the lobe just passing the pick-up (note: I didn't say I'd necessarily end up with that configuration).
