If your water pump has a bleeder on top of it, open that first.

Subject: Re: [alfa] radiator flush and fill on my 1994 Veloce
Veloce = Spider? The earlier Spiders had a drain plug in the bottom of
the
radiator, I wasn't aware that they'd ever done away with that. On the
earlier
cars, it's recessed inside the lower radiator support, you need a socket
with
an extension to get to it.
Otherwise, pop the lower hose. That's what you have to do on a Milano.
After it starts draining, remove the radiator cap. Also, make sure the
heat
is 'on' inside the car, you want all the fluid out of that circuit as
well.
Good time to inspect the radiator and heater hoses.
When you fill it, I like to add a gallon of coolant first, then top off
with
water, distilled if you can find it. Run the car with the cap off, wait
for
it to come up to temp, you will see the coolant level drop as the
thermostat
opens. Then top it off, open the bleeder nut to let any air out, close
the
bleeder, replace the cap, and you're done!

So I pulled out my huge service manual, only to find that there isn't
much
info about how to do a flush and fill on the radiator. Anyone know of a
tutorial online, or have any tips to share?
Am I crazy to think that there isn't a drain at the bottom of the
radiator?
It
looks as if the manual says to drain the radiator by disconnecting a hose
and
letting it drain through that hose into a pan. That just seems... well,
wrong!
