I recently had reason to experiment with some 3M glue. Can't recall the
name, but it was recommended for gluing body panels. Price was about $20.00.
It was the most amazing stuff.
A few concerns. If there is not significant penetration of the wood, you
are only gluing a surface layer. If the frame is chrome, there is little that
will truly bond to chrome.
As to the value, I recall visiting an old couple on Beacon Hill. I tried to
casually look at the bottom of an antique chair to see if I thought it
would support my 190 lbs. This was noticed with the comment "All of our
antiques are good antiques".
