Define 'getting no fire'. Is there spark but the engine is not starting? Or
is there no spark at all?
To check for spark remove a spark plug wire & connect to a spare spark plug.
Ground the threads (touching bare metal on the engine) and have a trusted
assistant try to start the engine while you watch the spark plug's electrode
gap. There should be a snappy blue spark. If so, check that the spark plug
wires are connected in the proper firing order. Position the #1 piston at
TDC on compression (remember that the piston goes to TDC twice in once
complete cycle). The distributor rotor is now aimed at the location for the
#1 spark plug wire. (Since it is possible for a distributor to be installed
incorrectly don't just attach the wires based on a picture in the shop
manual.) Once the proper location of the #1 spark plug wire is located, the
remaining must be attached in a counter-clockwise direction of 1-3-4-2.
Check that the rotor is good condition and the inside of the cap has no
cracks and that the spring loaded 'button' in the center of the cap is
present.
If there is no spark then further investigation is needed. The L-jet system
requires at least 10.5V to wake up and send the make spark/squirt fuel
signals. If it very possible for the engine to sound like it is cranking
over well but system voltage could be below that threshold. Connect a
voltmeter to the battery and see what it reads during cranking. (don't rely
on a dash voltmeter) If low charge the battery, clean all electrical
connections in the battery to starter circuit and re-check. If still low
consider replacing the battery.
If the system voltage checks OK then check the flywheel sensors. Info is in
the Spider L-jet Diagnosis page.

Subject: [alfa] '86 SPIDER GETTING NO FIRE
Dear alfistas,
I tried to tune my '86 Spider Veloce. The car was running fine when I
started the chore. Whwn I finished the car was not getting any fire at
all.
I looked at the box and Pep Boys had given me the wrong plugs. I put all
the old parts bac in. Still no fire. I checked the shop manual and the
wires appeared to be in the right order. Any ideas?? Help!
