Hi all, My 1978 Spider suffered some fairly minor (or s I thought) cosmetic damage recently and the insurance company has agreed to pay for the removal of a small dent and repair to the paint. The body shop (which I trust; I've had other work done there with truly amazing results) said that in order to do it right, pretty much the whole front end of the car would have to be repainted, at a cost of just under $1,700. That's fine. Makes sense. Hagerty has been WONDERFUL about it. I can wholeheartedly recommend Hagerty for collector car insurance. I would have settled for dent removal and a hand touch-up to the paint, but they encouraged me to have it done right, even if it was expensive.
What I'm wondering is this: Is there anything tricky about removing the trim on this car that I should alert the body shop to? I know they do great work with paint and the owner has said he'll do the work himself, but just wondering if there's anything especially Alfa quirky that I need to tell him before I take it in? The front bumper will have to come off, the two-piece silver Alfa "grill" will too and also the sidelights and the metal around the windshield, perhaps? Thanks Colin 1978 Alfa Spider -- to be removed from alfa, see http://www.digest.net/bin/digest-subs.cgi or email "unsubscribe alfa" to [email protected]
