Whilst fabricating a new front muffler heat shield for my GTV, I picked at
some flaking rust from underneath the car only to find that the rust went
thru and thru.  There is now a 3" x 4" hole in the drivers side floor;
right where your heel goes whilst driving. Probably rusted from the
drivers side due to years of many leaks and standing water.

My question is: from which side of the floor should I apply the patch ??
 Down below would keep any outside dirt/water from getting in but a
difficult spot since it is above me (hate when hot metal hits my skin) and
the muffler impedes easy maneuvering of the MIG welder tip. From inside
the cabin, the overlapping patch seam might collect dirt/water from below
unless the patch fit the hole exactly. And I need to pull back the carpet
so that it doesn't catch on fire which probably means removing the seat.

If it isn't one thing, it is another....found brake fluid dripping from the
clutch slave cylinder flexible hose. The hose might be porous and needs to
be replaced.....
