Jan Its very unusual to get a faulty new pump. You have no doubt checked to see that it is the new pump that's leaking past the bearing seal and not a seepage past the gasket at the top of the pump body that's letting water get onto the back of the pulley. If the pump is leaking send it back. Don't stuff around with coolant additives etc.B By the way its easy to crack the carbon seal of the bearing by putting side force on the pulley so care is needed when changing belts or fan.
