I've heard you can do a work-around by replacing the steering box oil with
grease and avoid having to replace the seals in the box. Correct? Any
particular grease to use?

I have used and recommend the same steering box lube as is used by a host of
vintage cars and advertised in Hemmings Motor News. "Penright" A
...."semi-fluid extreme pressure grease ideal for non-rack and pinion boxes
fitted to veteran and vintage automobiles. Just pourable at normal ambient
temperatures, excellent shear stability, will not channel, helps control
leakage." www.penriteoil.co.uk
