It's tough to diagnose a problem via mail, but you can also check the pump itself if it's only at a L/R limit. If it's a rubbing noise, check the plastic fender liners for tire contact. There's not much I know of in the rack that can make noise. Likewise, a bad wheel bearing would growl all the time with added noise in turning and curves.
