Suggest you go to your local Ace store with your old drain plug, and go to their O-ring cabinet. Select an O-ring that fits nicely between the inside diameter of the copper washer and the threads. Pick a ring with a rubber gauge such that the top of the uncompressed ring projects slightly above the top of the copper washer when both are installed on the plug. Get two or three of them so as to have spares. Install a ring, along with the usual copper washer, at the next oil change, no more drip.

Greetings from toasty Las Vegas,

Like just about every other Alfa owner, I keep a gaggle of those crushable
copper drain plug washers in my glove box, for future oil changes. It seems
like washers really haven't worked on the last couple of oil changes - so I
even bought a new drain plug, thinking there might be a burr or something
impeding the seal. No luck.

Can anyone give me a tip or some advice - I just can't seem to stop that
irritating drip of oil that comes from my plug, and my mechanic says he's
doing the best he can!
