B Well, before I really got into fuse removal and other well thought out
ideas from many of you, I heard a vague humming sound when I was under the
dash looking at fuses (just as well, as one was blown, but obviously not an
important circuit, as I wasn't missing anything) so I started poking around,
removed the side panels of the center console, and this is the mess I found!
Why I never looked in there during the 20 years or so that I've had the car,
I'll never know. The cause for the battery drain turned out to be a very quiet
heater blower motor, the switch for which turned out to be upside down and
miswired--- when I assumed it was off, it was actually on low---So, that part
is taken care of! But now, I have to deal with this mess, remove the burglar
alarm that a previous owner put in badly (I never even knew there was one!)
and clean everything up.

Thanks again, everyone--
        * Cordially,B B

is just a general thank you. It is really truly gratifying to see all of you
responding to my electrical problem. One of the better aspects of human
behavior!

switch (actually a 30A aircraft circuit breaker toggle) in line with the
alternator output which then feeds the switched side of the master. Isolates
the alternator when I shut down, doubly so when I turn off the master
overnight.
