take a thin small piece of tubing.at start up put one end in your ear and
approach each suspect part with the other end till the noise increases.oh yes
be careful the sensing end doesnt get caught in any belt.lol.

Water pump and alternator are both good candidates.B  If your water pump isn't
leaking, my vote leans
toward the alternator.B  Sounds like it's time to recruit a friend, neighbor
or significant other to
start the car while you listen with your head down in the engine
compartment.B  From your
description, it seems the offender should be easy to identify.
