Hi Richard Question 1
"it looks like replacing the master involves working up through the driver's footwell for the two bolts and the pin for the pedal assembly, which is doable and a pain in the neck. Am I right or are there any shortcuts?" Yep it's a total pain in the neck, and there are no real shortcuts. You can remove the driver's seat (I always do) and then you can lie on your back in the foot well with your feet propped up on the rear seat. Also the Milano clutch pedal has a so-called helper spring mechanism in the pedal box. When you get the pin out, you can move the pedal enough to remove this mechanism. I don't like the way the helper spring works. To me it's makes low speed operations like parallel parking more difficult, but to each his own. Question 2 "for the slave, I've removed the flex line and the snap ring on the hydraulic line side. I need to remove the snap ring on the push rod side, but it's rotated about 90 degrees to face the side of the transmission, making it virtually impossible to get the circlip pliers on it. anyone have any suggestions about how to deal with this. I'm getting a little bit frustrated with it." Well since you have disconnected the flex line, why don't you just remove the bracket that holds the slave to the trans-axle. It sounds like the snap ring has seized to the bore . Remember when you reinstall the slave cylinder, make sure the bleeder valve is pointing up, otherwise it's nearly impossible to bleed.
