Think it as following...
(++i + ++i) + ++i;
i.e.
(7 + 7) + 8;

1) calculate ++i  i.e i=6
2) calculate ++i  i.e i=7
3) calculate (i + i)  i.e (7+7) = 14 because i is now 7
4) calculate ++i  i.e i=8
5) calculate 14 + i  i.e 22
