I’ve written this up previously so I’ll summaries what I wrote then. When you unpack the recorder, insert the battery and turn the power to the recorder on the machine comes up talking. My machine defaulted to talking in English but that may not always be the case as previously noted. At this stage Voice Guidance isn’t set as the machine needs you to make a few choices, the battery type is one. You’re prompted to select the type of battery you’re using, either alkaline or nickel hydride rechargeable battery. Next you’re prompted to set the clock which can be done without sight. Finally you’re asked if you want Voice Guidance set to on or off. Afer all that the recorder boots up and you’re ready to go. Note that if the battery is removed or power is disconnected then this procedure will have to be repeated.
