The Sony xPeria is the best phone I've ever used as far as audio quality goes
but like everything else the xPeria has its pros and conns, mine is the xPeria
X-Performance model and is a fairly old model now having been around for 2
years but I see no reason to rush out and upgrade right now.
So to the audio, the phone has stereo speakers which are front monted.
This took me a little while to get used to as one is moving one's hand about
the device so therefore its extremely easy to cover one of the speakers in your
travels.
The speakers look identical so using the phone upside for me is common place as
I can't tell the top from the bottom unless I look for obvious cues on the side
of the phone with controls etc rather than judge by the speakers on the front.
To put this into perspective, you know the top and the bottom of an Apple
iPhone by its earpiece however if you're looking for an earpiece on the xPeria
then both ends look the same.
The xPerial phone is able to play HD audio files up to 192K and the DAC sounds
very nice, perhaps nice quite as good as my Oppo external DAC but that was an
extra $700 so you'd want something to sound damn good at that price. The
Headphone output of the phone is well above what most phones have offered me in
the past.
Bluetooth is amongst the best I've seen on a phone offering both APTX and LDAC
lossless options depending on the devices you're using.
I use Talkback with Acapella voices and the 2 speakers really make the voices
sound natural, I always thought that speech sounded a little tinny in the
Samsung phones I previously owned but who's complaining, at least I could hear
things clearly.
