Interestingly enough, I even took the file (which I had found and moved back
to where I had it before) I copied it and actually pasted it into MP3 Direct
Cut) this time it said the file name, but said, "copy) but it, too,
apparently is missing!

It should be safe enough, but to be really safe, you want a copy or copies,
that way if one file gets overwritten or deleted, you have anotehr one. Save
it wherever you want, either on the local drive(s) in your machine, or
somewhere else on the external (iE, in a different folder, like backups or
something).

So are you suggesting that the place where I'm saving it is "not a safe
place?" I don't know where else I should save it; where I'm saving it is
not on the computer; is on an external hard drive, unless that has gone bad
somehow!

If you find it again, copy it somewhere else, that you know you can easily
get to.
I don't know if something is going on with direct cut, but it doesn't seem
likely. People use that programme and nobody has reported it mysteriously
trashing files. And I imagine like most programmes, it doesn't actually do
anything with the file itself until you elect to save your changes. I could
be wrong as I know it's not a standard digital audio editor, but that's how
most stuff works. So when you finish your operation with the programme you
either save it under the same name save it under a different name or in a
different location, or don't save it at all, in which case, nothing
isultimately done.

And if I happen to find that file again, what should I do to assure that
this time, the file stays where it's supposed to live and can I make the
edit in MP3 Direct Cut I want to edit? Might it be that there's a problem
going on with MP3 Direct Cut? I _want_ _this_ _file!"

Okay folks, I don't know what is happening! I promise you that I'm not
deleting this file; I had gone into the external fille; went into My Music;
then "Special Programs; from there, to ACB Community Karaoke (where the file
had been placed; found it and was able to get it into MP3 Direct Cut; even
was able to edit it, so I thought I was home free, so I then closed out
everything and went back into my shortcut for the My Music folder (which
actually is on my external drive) went through the usual steps to get to my
ACB Community Karaoke folder and looked for the file I wanted.it's gone
again! I don't know what to do next! Any ideas anyone?
