Now I started my laptop wihtout wLAN access to internet (DSL per wLAN-Router) - and everything worked fine (there was only a few seconds delay in the splash screen, where the progress bar stayed at the same position I knew before - see attachment) Even the PDF export worked really fast with an optimal result - now I can publish my dissertation! Just one more point I want to mention: during the hours of testing with internet access my firewall (ZoneAlarm) told me a few times, that it blocked access from the internet (217.237.150.225 (DNS)) to my computer, but even if I added this address to the "trusted zone" temporarily , performance stayed extremely poor. Perhaps this may help you - it's not the solution to diconnect from internet when you want to work with OOo. @parmruss: Does it make a difference, If you have access to internet or not?
