If a KDE newer version is out, Kab functionnality will arbitrarily stop working, even if there are no real technical reasons for that, forcing to use an obscure script or to change some obscure setting. I can't imagine "general users" doing that. The KDE API is supposed to have matured a lot and to change less and less with each new KDE version. At least that's what I have heard in KDE meetings.
