I doubt that anyone is trying to use something less than gcc-3.2.x, it just will not work anymore; our documentation needs to be corrected. Anyway, compiler base lines are not set in stone. Before we uprade the compiler base line we'll have to evaluate if every platform has practical access to, say, gcc-3.4.x or better.
