I received a copy of a MS-Word created document and tried to save changes to
another filename in MS-Word format. This caused OO to hang. I tried again but
saving to ODT format and it worked. I then tried to save this (now ODT) file in
MS-Word format and it hung/crashed again.

I have tested this file both on Linux (Gentoo) and Widnows (2000) using
Openoffice 2.0.2 and the same results. It either crashes or hangs when trying
to save this doucment in MS-Word format.

Strace reports it's jus polling over and over:
getppid()                               = 28682
poll([{fd=11, events=POLLIN}], 1, 2000) = 0
