This is a "showstopper" bug! Period!

Thats because if you run Citrix or plain Windows Terminalserver at your site,
one of the things that you don't want to do is to install printers as
"Workstation"-printers. If you do so the printer is visible for all users
connected to that server, and you will at best create confusion among your
users.

At our site, which serves aprox. 8500 teachers and students, we have a unified
solution where students and teachers connects to a common terminalserver-farm.
We have aprox. 130 printers at 27 locations(schools), and, among other things,
we don't want students to see teachers-printers (The printer-list would also be
far too long!)

The solution is of course to install printers so that each user only see the
printers he has the rights to see, in other words install them as
"User"-printers. But usually you only install the most used printers for the
individual user. At our site, for instance, the teachers has the rights to print
to all 130 printers/27 locations, but at login we only install the printers that
are exclusivly for teachers at the location/school that they work.

If the teacher would like to print to a student-printer, or a teacher-printer at
another location, he/she has to install that printer manually (as a
"User"-printer). And here comes the problem....

If the user hasn't started Openoffice yet, there are no problem because
OpenOffice 2.0 (as 1.0 before it) reads both "Workstation"- and "User"-printers
at startup.

If, however, the user has already started OO 2.0 and chooses "File - Print", the
newly installed printer don't show up in the list of available printers, and the
user has to (1)Save his work (2)Quit OO (3)Start OO again (4)Open his document
again.

This is one of the things that irritates my users the most about OO (only topped
by that it ain't MS Office :-D), and it should be very easily fixed. The
code/functions that reads both "Workstation"- AND "User"-printers do already
exist, because OO reads both types at startup. And now, in OO 2.0, when you
choose "File - Print", OO discovers new "Workstation"-printers, but not new
"User"-printers.

I guess this is an oversight by the developer(s), probably because most
developers don't use terminalservers regulary :-)

I hope it will be fixed for 2.0.4!
