It seems you are using an OpenOffice.org delivered by your distributor (AFAIK
only the distributors use "ooffice"...)...
Which distribution/X/DE do you use?
Since your problem started right after re-compiling your desktop manager:
What makes you sure this is an OpenOffice.org problem?
Did you try to re-install your OOo?
Did you try OOo from www.openoffice.org?
