Problem only occurs on my Compaq laptop, not my desktop. They both run OOo 2.1.
I have experienced this issue with every version of OOo I have used (1.1 and
on). I must appologize if this is a duplicate report of the bug. I tried to
search for it but was unable to find any info. On with the problem... When you
draw or select a text box and type nothing for a few seconds, the handle of the
box change to what I am calling "draw or move mode" as opposed to the "edit text
mode". So, if you start to type a word in the box, wait for a few seconds, then
press the backspace key, the entire text box gets deleted. I don't us MS office
at all now, and I design all my business advertising/presentations in IMPRESS.
This problem or bug is a major pain! Otherwise I love the program. The other
problem with the text boxes (I believe the two issues are related) is that if
you have the cursor 'hovering' over the text box and stop typing your sentance
for a few second, (the text box handles then change), then you resume typing -
the text does not start at the same posistion you left off, but it gets placed
wherever the cursor happens to be 'hovering'. Many thanks for your attention to
this matter. (The processor on my laptop is an AMD Turion if that makes any
difference).
