------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Feb 3 08:31:32 +0000 2007 ------- I'm new to the OO community despite having used the program suite for some years. I could not find any report on this issue, so apologies if this one is a duplicate. The following problem in Calc has persisted at least since version 1.5 and up until version 2.1. It is possibly still in version 2.2 but I haven't tested that one. In Calc, cell formatting will overflow from the previous column to the next (e.g. from column A to column B) if the contents of the cells are functionally the same. For example, if column A has been formatted to show Boolean values and cell A3 has value of FALSE and column B is formatted to show data as Number and cell B3 has value of 0, the value displayed for B3 will actually be FALSE instead of 0. Similarly, if column A had been formatted to show percent, B3 would read 0.00% instead of 0. Using the format cell command to fix the cell suffering from overflow seemingly corrects the problem, but as soon as the document is closed and reopened, the problem will reassert itself and wipe out the change made earlier. This problem is 100% reproducible and happens every time the conditions are met, which can easily lead to corrupted user data, especially if the cell values are used as the basis for calculations. There is a workaround for this problem: adding a new, empty column in between the two columns with different formats. Since the new column has no values, format overflow will not occur. However, it is a very clumsy and inconvenient fix that does nothing to address the root of the problem. There does not seem to be any way to attach files here, but I can provide several different example files from a hobby project of mine that will amply demonstrate this problem if the instructions above are not sufficient for reproducing it.
