Turn on snap to grid and draw some text somewhere.  If the mode is set so that
the text oriented to the lower left side of the text box, then it appears that
the left-most font baseline point is what is actually snapped to the grid.

Anyway, that's fine, but now pick up the text and reposition it.  You can never
get it back to the original position because the bounding box is now what is
snapped to the grid.  If I don't change grid settings I should be able to
position the text back to the original position.

IMHO, text should work as in Inkscape or Corel Draw.  The lower left base line
point should (at least optionally) be the point which gets the attached to the 
grid.
