I have kubuntu 7.10 running compiz/fusion. OpenOffice loads fine the first
time; however, upon exit, it creates the ~/.openoffice.org2/ folder with all
user settings. As long as this folder exists, it will not reload (any
component). The splash screen will show for approx. 2 seconds and it will give
a "Unknown error forking main binary / abnormal early exit ..." error everytime.
The only way I've gotten it to run with this folder present is if the style
packages containing the system icons are uninstalled so that only text appears
on the menus and toolbars. If the style packages are loaded and the user
settings folder is deleted, the programs do load fine and display all icons
properly. I'm using the nvidia proprietary drivers for video, if that makes a
difference. Please help!!
