beppec56: The group transparency on the page level is in since pdf01, way back.
Which means I don't remember the exact reason for adding it. However the PDF
reference suggests that pages can be used as a transparent group on some
undefined backdrop. That seems a rather exotic feature (perhaps for embedding
PDFs into other documents), however I'd vote to not change this. Instead we
should not emit this Group dictionary in case of PDF/A (where transparency is
forbidden).
For verification I'll attach a modified PDF file that does not contain the Group
dict, could you please verify whether this file validates ?
