I do not agree that this should be an enhancement! 

A file should be embeddable in a document, because a document should be
distributable for use by anyone, under the OpenDocument standard. Styles are
embedded for this reason, as are pictures. What makes it unnecessary for movie
and sound files to follow the same design? 

Users expect to embed these files, and I expected mine to be embedded in 2.3.1
and then 2.4.0. when it was not, I checked the Links option in the Edit window,
and no links were listed. If the file is linked in, that should be indicated in
the Links dialog. 

No link, and no embedded file either. This is a bug.
