I had a go defining, as a name, a whole column, a range in a column, & a single
cell. I then tried each in conditional formatting, with and without single
quotes. I got confusing results. Mostly nothing happened. Sometimes formatting
was applied - most often this was if previous conditional formatting
had "hungover" from a previous attempt - maybe step 7 of issue 28589 is
involved there. I did not have time to pin down what was going on.

It seems names (named cells etc) in conditional formatting do not work. I can't
find a relevant issue, but without clearly defining the problem there isn't
much point raising one.

If they don't work within OpenOffice then export behaviour to XLS and back is
secondary.
