Me too. In my case, it is from 'Bomb !' experiences with MacOS in the 1980s.
The Mac, at the time, often shows a Bomb image at the center of display. 
A graphical image of my works on the software such as word processor is still 
there, but the Mac freezes.

That is a good idea.

For either "Always-Enabled Save" or "Force Save," the icon button could be 
implemented in the following or similar way to offer better UI.

 1. User clicks on the icon button. 
 2. The icon turns disabled. 
 3. File selection dialog appears if the document has not been named.
 4. Process of saving a document goes.
 5. The icon turns enabled after finishing with the process.
