So, to reproduce you need to set the Office locale to English_UK but have the
text portions' (containing the date field) language set to English_US like it is
the case in the attached sample document. Behavior changes if also that is set
to English_UK. Since the format's locale is set to Automatic this even appears
to be logical and the format follows the attribute's locale, which in US for a
long date happens to be MMMM D, YYYY instead of D MMMM YYYY

@cjw296: For you the easy change in your document is to attribute the text as
English_UK instead of English_US.

@os: Sounds like intended behavior, doesn't it? However, there seems to be some
oddity in which format of which locale does overlay what other locale if the
Office locale is not the same as the text locale and format locale. If in the
above scenario (English_UK locale with English_US text) I change the format's
locale to English_UK and pick the D MMMM YYYY format, the format is not visibly
applied at the end, but saving the document stores it. It changes again if the
document is reloaded, then the English_UK D MMMM YYYY is displayed. I didn't
investigate to work out other patterns for details.
