2008 -------
After removing all traces of OOo-dev300 (also updating to JRE "1.6.0_07" and
removing all older JRE versions), and re-installing [OOO300m2 (Build9343)], now
everything works!
It seems that my XP system got into a mixed-up state w.r.t. the different
OOo-dev300 and JRE installations, such that the reported OOo crashes occurred.
Sorry for the false alarm!
