I'm not quite sure about the stream length issue, the lengths seem ok to me in
the empty file. Perhaps there is confusion about the extra newline character
before the "endstream" token, which is explicitly allowed in section 3.2.7 of
the PDF1.4 reference.
With the string and array problems you got me. I'm not sure how to find an
invalid string inside a 17.1 MB (compressed) PDF file. Does your validator at
least tell inside which object the problem occurs ? As for the array elements,
there is no size check, so they may indeed overflow. The question is what to do
then; probably one would need to invent intermediate container objects to get
around this.
