My bad for referring to a shut down as a crash. It is definitely a shut down.

There is only a single installed version of OO on my machine. I uninstalled
2.4.1 and rebooted prior to installing 3.0rc2.

As for the FoxPro app shelling the command, I did not write the app, nor do I
have access to the source code, so I cannot comment on how it executes its shell
function. When loading an OO doc, the FoxPro app specifically asks for the full
path of the "writer" application to use (swriter.exe in our case) if it is
unable to find it in the path where it last found it. When I first used the
FoxPro app after installing 3.0 it could no longer find the writer app
previously specified for the 2.4.1 install (which is normal behavior) and it for
the path where it could be found. I have subsequently specified the 3.0 version
of both soffice.exe and swriter.exe.

Both sofffice.exe and swriter.exe succesfully load the document if there is no
instance of soffice.exe/bin in memory.

If swriter.exe is specified as the writer app, the problems I have described
occur, when loading a second document via the FoxPro application if soffice has
been previously loaded.

If soffice.exe is specified as the writer app, nothing visible happens when
attempting load a second document via the FoxPro application if soffice has been
previously loaded, however a second instance of soffice.exe/bin is loaded in
memory.

During my troubleshooting, I have also noticed that soffice.bin and soffice.exe
remain in memory after specifically closing them through the application
interface, regardless of how it has been loaded. I have to manually kill
soffice.bin to get reid of both.
