As per my first post:

to clarify the last part: It is also not possible to open existing writer
document by double-clicking on them; the swriter process starts but never
presents a UI. Eventually, I get the error dialog that I have reported
separately.
Other than the generic error dialog (no error message), the only error message I
have received was listed in the 8th reply:

> error in soffice.bin ("This application has requested the runtime to
> terminate in an unusual way")
As per the 6th post, yes it occurs in RC2.
