As far as I understood the reason not to deal with this in 2.4 was the fact that the things under the GUI hood would need a lot of changes to allow for this functionality. So if these changes were not incorporated in 3.0 when will they? I have already bought Softmaker Presentation due to this issue. If there will be no clear time frame when this will be fixed I will start to convert all my presentations to it and from my personal experiences OpenDocument-Format is only partially interchangeable in presentations due to different features. So this might make me leave OOo Impress forever.
