------- Additional comments from [email protected] Tue Dec 16 14:34:02 +0000 2008 ------- Not true, in URL/URI/IRI notation a backslash is not a path segment separator, no matter on which system. In fact, a backend resolver on Windows should decompose the path segments and transform if necessary, which it usually is not because Windows' system functions do understand both, '\' and '/', as path delimiters, do not confuse with your command shell. But strictly spoken, the ':' colon is wrong (should occur only as a scheme or authority separator) and should be replaced by the '|' pipe symbol (which is only a convention), though most applications do treat the colon as expected on Windows.
