It is a valid request, to wish to be able to configure the wordbook path in the
UI. Therefore I set it to "new".
"Why" questions do not belong into the issue. Use the mailing lists and forums
for questions, http://support.openoffice.org/. Some of your questions are
answered in issue 80286 and issue 70333.
A feature request should describe the feature itself and what general benefit
such a feature has.
It is a overall problem, which settings should be possible in the UI and which
are only possible in the configuration files, and it is a overall problem, which
settings are needed by everyone and which are only needed by power users and
administrators. This should not be discussed in the issue itself, but in the
ui-project http://ui.openoffice.org/ and the related ux-project
http://ux.openoffice.org/. Currently you have to edit the Paths.xcu files to get
the desired settings.
