Aharoni doesn't contain a glyph for U+0623 (is there a version of Aharoni that
support it?), so if that font
is selected and the hamza-glyph is to be painted then another font has to be
used. Using that other font
is just a rescue action to show something sensible. The use of the
fallback-font is not supposed to change
the line-height of the originally selected font so this problem is inevitable.
It is not much of a problem
though: for a consistent and reliable layout of text the selected font must
- exist (either directly or through a lookalike)
- the font must contain all the glyphs required by the text
