------- Additional comments from [email protected] Tue Mar 31 04:52:17 +0000 2009 ------- I was able to replicate these findings with Open Office 2.4.1 running on Ubuntu 8.10, 32 bit. Using example.odt attached with this issue I had an exported PDF with size 223 KB, while for comparison, using the same document in Open Office 3.0.0 on Windows Vista SP1 32 bit the exported PDF size was 22 KB. I found that an odt document containing a single image (no text) exports a PDF file with identical size on both my Linux and Windows test systems. Using Microsoft True Type Fonts in writer on Ubuntu reduces size of the PDF export to 75 KB. 1. Install MS Core fonts for Ubuntu. At the command line: sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts 2. Open example.odt with writer. Edit|Select All and change font from 'Times' to 'Times New Roman'. 3. Export to PDF. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
