------- Additional comments from [email protected] Fri Apr 10 15:23:22 +0000 2009 ------- I created a document in Open Office Writer that had section headings (I used Heading 1, 2, 3, 4), section references (I used cross references) and a table of contents. When I exported the file for either Microsoft Word 2000/XP or Microsoft 2003 XML format, the document had a number of problems when opened in MS Word (I tried it both in MS Word 2000 and MS Word 2003) 1. The TOC was no longer properly linked In MS Word 2000. the TOC showed up but was not clickable and oddly, not even deletable either. I couldn't fix it, it was no longer a field, nor regular text. It acted like an unchangeable watermark. In MS 2003, it was clickable but did not go to anything (it just went to the top of the TOC page) and was not updateable, but I could delete it. 2. The "chapter" headings lost their numbers and no longer were fields Each section heading no longer had the numbering (such as 2., 2.1.3, etc). As well, when I created a new TOC (since the old one didn't work), they didn't show up in the TOC. In the "style" pulldown, their styles showed as "Heading_20_1" instead of the proper "Heading 1". If I changed a heading to be "Heading 1" and then hit "return" to go to the next line, it corrected the problem but I had to do this for every header and some headers had to be first converted to "body text" for this to work. 3. Some bullet lists were messed up in indenting and improperly connected While the bullet lists were all still "lists", the indenting was all gone. The only way to fix it was to undo the list, then redo the list and re-indent. For example, this list (I use "----" to indent a line in case the formatting in the issue tracker won't indent): 1. Item one ----a. Item One-A would improperly show as: 1. Item One a. Item One-A As well, on about half the lists, if I undid them and redid them, they were connected to a previous list and thus "1" would start as "2". 4. If I used XML, it lost all images (all inserted picture files were gone) 5. If I tried to correct any of the above, it just continued to mess other things up --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
